On paintings over $1,000, 50% is due upon completion of initial sketch. Paintings are a representation of the subject by the artist, and will accurately reflect the likeness.
If the portrait is commissioned for yourself, remember that you are used to seeing a reflection of yourself in a mirror. Our faces aren’t symmetrical and you may believe the drawing is out of proportion, but I promise it’s not. You should take the art home, show it to friends and family and look at it for two weeks. By then it will be obvious that the likeness has been captured.
Oil paintings may take up to one month to complete from time of commission, but on average take one to two weeks. Graphite sketches can be finished in 48 hours. You may provide a photo or Gabriel can shoot reference photos to work from. If you would like your portrait job finished sooner, please add 50% to the final cost.
